Hollee Keller: This marks the first time in my stewardship of ranking data that I actually had to stop and take a moment to digest the big gains.
The true comparison of results may lie in the average sales per company. The top 100 is up 6.9 percent while the littlest gain is less than 1 percent, nearly 10 times less. We look at percentages as a way of ironing out the disparity; this gives us a relatable point of comparison.
In April, we sent out our survey forms for this year's ranking of North American injection molders. Early indicators had respondents reporting 20 percent gains.
Our goal is to shine a light on how much recycled resin is available for processors to purchase and to identify the companies that supply it. That is different from other listings of recyclers that include firms that recycle exclusively for their own consumption.

Looking at the largest firms on our list, the top 25, we see a 15 percent jump in fiscal 2021. That is second only to the 18 percent jump we saw back in 2011. In fact, the total reported thermoforming sales this year is nearly triple that of 20 years ago.
Now is the time to upgrade and take advantage of real-time changes from our news sources and our regular contact with processors.
This week marks a sure sign that the calendar year is coming to an end. And I'm not talking about the return of Christmas music to your local radio station.
