Did you use to catch and release tadpoles from ponds when you were a kid? If you did, Jens Heidler of Another Perspective has a video that will make your childhood close to you again. And I mean, really close. In his latest video, he shows us tadpoles in 100:1 magnification, revealing even the tiniest details we’ve never seen before.
This stunning timelapse shows three years of mushroom growth in three minutes
Jens Heidler of Another Perspective is known for his unique and captivating timelapse videos of various objects. Oftentimes, they show us stuff from our home in a totally new light. But with his latest video, 1000 Days Mushroom Growth, Jens went a step further.

The Microcosmos of Winter: How I shot ice crystals in sub-zero temperatures with an extreme macro lens
In the “Microcosmos of Winter,” I wanted to show never-seen-before footage of a soap bubble that starts to freeze. I previously tried to film this two years ago with my Sony 90 1:1 and Raynox DRC-250, which only allowed me to shoot at about 2X magnification. However, the weather in Germany at that time was simply too warm for it to work.
Two years later, and with suitable cold conditions of -10°C, I was ready to try again. This time, I was armed with my Laowa 25mm, which has a 5:1 magnification, allowing me to shoot extreme macro detail.
Watch colorful C vitamin crystals form under a microscope
Other than boosting our immune system, vitamin C can also be rather useful in photography. Yup, you read that right. Those of you who develop film know that it can be done with vitamin C. And those who are more into digital photography can make use of this vitamin too.
Jens of Another Perspective decided to play with it for artistic purposes and show you how beautiful it looks as it forms under a microscope. Using his digital camera, polarized light, and a bit of C vitamin powder, he created a bunch of mesmerizing photos and video clips he shares with you in this video.
This mesmerizing timelapse shows a raw egg crystalizing
It’s incredible how much interesting photo and video content you can make from stuff you have around the house. This time, Jens of Another Perspective used a single raw egg to create a fantastic timelapse. “What’s so interesting about an egg?” you may wonder. Well, it crystalizes as it dries, creating incredible patterns Jens caught on camera.
Watch mushrooms grow in this hypnotizing timelapse
I’ve always loved timelapse videos of plants growing or dying. And in this video, Jens of Another Perspective shows us how white mushrooms grow. And just as I love eating them, I loved watching them in this hypnotizing timelapse.
Watch and learn how to photograph snowflakes at home
With big chunks of the world seeing snow right now, and not being able to get out much, it’s a great time to learn how to photograph snowflakes! This video from Jens at Another Perspective walks us through the process, which you can do with even an entry-level camera. You will also need either a macro lens or some extension tubes, too. And a close-up filter like the Raynox DCR-250 shown in the video might help, too.
The trick to figuring out how much magnification you need, which you can do by understanding how big snowflakes are and the magnification factor of your lens and overall camera setup, which Jens explains how to do in the video – and one of the things I like about it. Jens actually goes through the problems and how to tackle them.
