At almost the same time as Nikon, lens manufacturer 7artisans launched its own version of a fast 24mm APS-C lens. It’s a 24mm f/1.4 lens, slightly faster and significantly cheaper than Nikon’s version. It will set you back only $109, and it comes in Sony E, Fuji X, Canon RF, Nikon Z, EOS-M, and MFT mounts.
First image leaks for upcoming 7Artisans 24mm f/1.4 for E/X/M42/RF/EF-M/Z
7Artisans seems to be preparing to launch a new lens. An image has leaked of a 24mm f/1.4 lens for APS-C cameras, with a wide range of mounts. The list includes Sony E, Fuji X, Micro Four Thirds, Canon RF, Canon EF-M and Nikon Z, although there’s no word as to which mounts may come first or when.
Being a 7Artisans lens, it’s pretty much a sure thing that it will be a manual focus lens. That it’s being released for Canon RF and Nikon Z mount cameras also suggests that it won’t have electronic contacts to pass EXIF and other data between the camera and lens.
7artisans 79mm Split Diopter selectively adds blur to your images in-camera
7Artisans has released a new 79mm split diopter filter. As with many filters, it goes on the end of your lens between the subject and the camera. This one doesn’t screw onto the lens, though. While shooting, you hold this one in front of your lens (or try to mount it to a camera cage) for maximum positional control.
The typical application of split diopters lets you film two subjects on very different focus planes while keeping them both sharp. 7Artisans, though, says that they have another less common effect. Split diopters, in bringing the plane of focus closer in the area they cover, also blur out your actual plane of focus. This lets you selectively blur parts of your image to, as 7Artisans describes it, “enhance your visual storytelling”.
7Artisans’ new 18mm f/6.3 II UFO is a $59 APS-C pancake lens for unobtrusive street photography
7Artisans has announced their new 18mm pancake lens, the 7artisans 18mm F6.3 II UFO. As the name suggests, it has a wide 18mm focal length with a fixed f/6.3 aperture. It’s designed specifically for APS-C mirrorless cameras and is available in Sony E, Nikon Z and Fuji X mount options. This tiny lens has a diameter of 56mm and a depth of a mere 15mm, including the mount.
It’s designed to be a bit of a walkabout lens for street photography, with a fixed f/6.3 aperture that should still give you some nice fast shutter speeds during the day. That 18mm focal length on APS-C offers a field of view equivalent to that of about 27mm on a full-frame body, ideal for street photography shots that show some environmental context. And the new version II of this lens also has variable focus from 0.3m to infinity.
7Artisans announces its new 12mm f/2.8 Mark II rectilinear APS-C lens
7Artisans has announced a new Mark II revision of its popular 12mm f/2.8 wide-angle manual focus lens for APS-C cameras. The new lens is going to be available in six different mounts, including Sony E, Nikon Z, Fuji X and Micro Four Thirds initially, with Canon EF-M and Canon RF to follow.
The wide 12mm focal length offers around 100° field of view on APS-C bodies, with a 15cm minimum focus distance. This makes it a great lens for landscapes and interiors while the wife f/2.8 aperture also makes it a great option for astrophotography.

7Artisans teases new 12mm T2.9 cine and 4mm f/2.8 drone lenses on Chinese social media
7Artisans has been showing off a couple of new APS-C lenses on Chinese social media platforms. One is a very wide angle ultra lightweight 4mm f/2.8 lens designed for use on drones while the other is a slightly less wide (but still pretty wide) 12mm T2.9 cinema lens. Both lenses appear to be manual focus lenses but beyond that, there isn’t much information available about them yet. We do know what mounts they’ll be available for.
Despite reportedly showing the new lenses off on Chinese social media, the two lense shave yet to make an appearance on the 7 Artisan website. But from the images teased, we can see that the 12mm T2.9 cine lens will be available in Sony E, MFT, Fuji X, Nikon Z, Leica L and Canon RF mount. The 4mm f/2.8 drone lens, though, will only be available for Sony E, Fuji X, MFT and Canon EF-M mounts.

7Artisans releases their new 25mm f/0.95 lens for APS-C mirrorless and MFT
7Artisans has released their new 25mm f/0.95 manual focus lens for APS-C mirrorless and Micro Four Thirds. The lens was first teased in September, but now it’s finally official, available and all of the specs are published. The lens is designed specifically for mirrorless cameras, being available on Sony E, Fuji X and Nikon Z APS-C mount options, as well as MFT.
That nice wide f/0.95 maximum aperture will let in a lot of light and allow for some pretty shallow depth of field, despite being made for APS-C and MFT cameras. On APS-C it offers a field of view equivalent to about 37.5mm on full-frame and on Micro Four Thirds it’s about a 50mm full-frame equivalent field of view.
