It’s incredible how much interesting photo and video content you can make from stuff you have around the house. This time, Jens of Another Perspective used a single raw egg to create a fantastic timelapse. “What’s so interesting about an egg?” you may wonder. Well, it crystalizes as it dries, creating incredible patterns Jens caught on camera.
Jens simply cracked the egg and let it crystallize over a period of 10 days. As it dried out, it was possible to break it like glass. And with the sound effects Jens added to the timelapse, you get the feeling like you’re looking at the glass crackling (and it’s one of those “oddly satisfying” things).
To take photos for this timelapse, Jens used a Sony A6000, a Sony A7r IV, a 60mm Laowa macro lens, and a 90mm Sony macro lens. He also shared a macro photo of the egg on his Instagram that kept me staring for a few minutes. I loved it!
Jens says that this was “the most unexpected time-lapse he has taken so far.” For me, it sure was one of the most unordinary ones I’ve seen, but also one of the most hypnotizing ones. Jens also filmed mushrooms growing in one of his previous timelapse videos, and it’s also incredibly satisfying and mesmerizing to watch. Who would have thought that omelet ingredients can be so darn photogenic? :)
