Did you use to catch and release tadpoles from ponds when you were a kid? If you did, Jens Heidler of Another Perspective has a video that will make your childhood close to you again. And I mean, really close. In his latest video, he shows us tadpoles in 100:1 magnification, revealing even the tiniest details we’ve never seen before.
It’s important to note that no tadpole was harmed during the making of this video. They were all very much alive, which made the filming pretty challenging – you know how active tadpoles are. Still, Jens managed to get so close that in his video, you can even see the blood flow of a living baby frog. Since its tail is translucent, Jens even managed to film the moving blood cells inside the frog’s veins.
“Filming living animals at this crazy high magnification is quite difficult, but that’s the reason I do this: Discover new perspectives we have never seen before,” Jens explains. Other than the insanely close-up video of the tadpole’s veins, you can also see its skin texture and even the microbes living on it. Crazy!
I personally love Jens’s videos because he finds his inspiration and subjects in nature and seemingly everyday things. He shows how, with the proper gear, dedication, and knowledge, you can turn even the most ordinary subjects into something extraordinary.
