When animals photobomb my shots, it’s the cutest thing. I don’t know about you, but I just can’t get mad at them. But when they photobomb a live camera during a broadcast and startle a meteorologist, you get a darn hilarious moment live on TV. This recently happened to an NBC6 South Florida weather presenter, and it was as charming as it was funny.
While meteorologist Chelsea Ambriz was reading the weather report, the large screen behind her was showing a live camera of Hollywood Beach. Suddenly, a seemingly giant pigeon appeared, and Chelsea reacted instinctively – she shrieked and even ducked a little bit. BUt she quickly composed herself and started laughing, and casually went on with the report.
Brain: bird is going to land on you!
Reality: I’m in the studio and this is a live camera…🤦♀️😂 pic.twitter.com/uQmZhEAuqQ

In a follow-up video (embedded above), Chelsea explained why she reacted the way she did. She was focusing on the graphics and thinking a few steps ahead, as news anchors and meteorologists are usually required to do. Of course, she didn’t expect the pigeon to appear – who would? From her vantage point, it looked like the bird was going to land on her, and her reaction was purely instinctive and natural.
Clehsea’s video quickly went viral, which she says she didn’t expect. It reminded me of the time when a crow photobombed a weather report on KTVU – another pretty funny situation. Of course, not all photobombers are welcome, as they sometimes can ruin the shot of a lifetime. And the pigeons are and funny until they fly inside your home and start making a mess (ask me how I know). But that’s a story for another time.
